Kevin O., Web Developer

Web Development

Kevin O.

Builds it the way it was drawn.

Kevin O. is a front-end developer who builds with the same precision he expects from the designs he's given. He specialises in fast, accessible websites written by hand, with as little as possible between the visitor and the page.

He has spent twelve years building for studios, cultural institutions and brands, and has strong opinions about page weight. His sites tend to outlive the redesign cycle, which he considers the point.

Selected Work
Ashlar — the studio website on a large display, a full-bleed photograph and one small wordmark

Ashlar — Web Development, 2025

Portfolio Site

Built an architecture studio's site to lead with full-bleed photography and then get out of the way: minimal navigation, no framework, and images that arrive in the order you look at them.

Studio North — website homepage on a laptop with the headline Things that work.

Studio North — Web Development, 2024

Studio Website

Development of a site that opens on three words and lets the work do the rest. Every case study is a single hand-written page, which is why it still loads in under a second.

The Cabinet — an open museum specimen drawer of beetles, butterflies, shells and eggs

The Cabinet — Web Development, 2026

The Pipeline

Built the museum's site and the publishing pipeline behind it, so that staff can photograph and publish a new drawer of specimens in an afternoon — without calling us.

The Lightweight Index — a text-only website on a laptop, with the headline Small is fast.

Independent Work — Website, Ongoing

The Lightweight Index

A hand-written directory of websites that weigh less than a single photograph. No framework, no tracking, no images — the whole site is smaller than most pages' logos. Four thousand visitors a month, which he finds funny.

Within the Collective

Kevin typically leads the build on any engagement with a website at its centre, and joins during design rather than after it, so that what gets drawn is what gets built. He works most closely with the collective's interface designers and with V. on the details that only show up in the browser — load, motion, and how a page behaves when it's resized.

All project enquiries are handled by Creative Director V. through Influence Design Studio.
